We provided our client with a raw material drying system based on heated air. This hot air current will lose all its moisture thanks to the absorbent granules.

How it works:

De harsdroger verwijdert de vochtigheid van de lucht die uit de vultrechter komt.
Alvorens de harsdroger wordt bereikt, stroomt de retourlucht door de filtereenheid (of cycloonblazer). Deze filter zorgt ervoor dat stof of vreemde objecten uit de luchtstroom verwijderd worden. Een houder voor het stof is gemonteerd in de basis van de cycloonblazer.
De lucht gaat verder vanuit de harsdroger richting de proceskamer. Hier nemen verwarmingselementen de temperatuur van de lucht naar het ingestelde procesniveau.
De lucht stroomt vanuit de proces-verwarmingskamer naar de droogtrechter. Hier wordt deze doorheen plastic korrels geblazen richting de hopper-diffusor. De warme droge lucht absorbeert de vochtigheid die zich in de plastic materialen bevindt en wordt geventileerd via bovenste deel van de hopper.

De hopper heeft een pneumatische schuifpoort in het onderste deel, voor het lossen. Deze wordt op de materiaaluitlaatdeur van de droogtrechter geplaatst.
  • Phase 1: the plastic materials are extracted and loaded

  • Phase 2: drying cycle
    • The drying cycle takes place in a closed continuous cycle.
    • The process air is first filtered by the filter unit (or cyclone blower) and then treated with the resin dryer.
  • Phase 3: the air is being treated
    • In the resin drier, molecular sieves absorb the moisture from the passing air flow.
    • That is why the air coming out of the resin dryer is dry (dew point).
  • Phase 4: The air is heated
    • The air flows from the resin dryer to the process heating chamber. Here it is brought to the desired process temperature.
  • Phase 5: The material is dried
    • The treated air flows to the hoppers, here the materials are dried.
  • Phase 6: The material is transferred to the processing machine
    • Now the plastic materials are transported either directly or indirectly (via a secondary hopper) to the processing machine.

Process phase

During this phase, the humidity is taken out of the air:

  • The air flows through the process filter, which removes any impurities.
  • The air flows to the process changer, where it is cooled.
  • Then it is sucked in by the process fans (12) and (13).
  • The blowers increase the pressure of the air, which is then blown to the lower distribution valve.
  • The lower distribution valve transports the air to the tower undergoing the process phase (*).
  • In the tower the air is blown through the molecular sieves, which remove the humidity from the air.
  • When the air flows out of the tower, it is dry.
  • Now the air in the upper distribution valve is blown to the recuperator
  • The air leaves the resin dryer and is again led into the hopper.

Regeneration phase

Although the molecular sieves can absorb a lot of moisture, they have to be periodically regenerated (phase of recovery). During the regeneration phase, the molecular sieves are dried and the absorbed water is removed.

Heating phase

  • The regeneration blower collects air from the environment (13).
  • The air is blown into the tower that undergoes the regeneration cycle.
  • In the tower it is heated by two regeneration heating elements.
  • Then it flows through the molecular sieves and absorbs all the moisture that is there.
  • The air is re-sent when the molecular sieves reach the set temperature of 200 ° C (or after a maximum interval of 3 hours)
  • Now the cooling phase begins, during these cycles the regeneration distribution valve is exchanged (11) and the regeneration heating elements are switched off.

Cooling phase

  • The air circulates in a closed circuit and is cooled.
  • It cools the molecular sieves until the set temperature of 80 ° C is reached (or the maximum duration of 2.5 hours is reached).
  • The regeneration supply stops until the process in the tower has reached the set dew point.
  • Now the towers can be changed.

Changing the resin dryer towers

  1. The regeneration cycle is restarted after the towers (1 and 2) have been changed. There is an interval between the two towers so that the drying cycle can be carried out without interruption.
  2. The towers are exchanged using pneumatic cylinders as soon as the set dew point has been reached.
